It's a Blog!

Here is where we will post random thoughts and awesome photos

It's a blog!
Here is where I will post thoughts and awesome photos of our alpacas.

But first, an introduction. This is how Sparrow's Alpaca Haven came to be. My husband Boyd and I live and work together in Salt Lake City, Utah and have mountain property in Indianola, (a small community north of Fairview). In the big city, we are printers and oh that can be ever so stressful! Our property is out in the country in WONDERFUL Sanpete county near Fairview and we just love it there. Out in the country, life is quiet. Out in the country, stars are bigger.
There is this road called Dairy Road - Why it's called that, I have no clue? But on this road we would always see alpacas, very very cute alpacas. One day we stopped and talked to the owner of them and ...before we knew it we had two!

WHAT'S BEEN GOING ON?

It's been a year now since we began living here permanently on the farm. We were hoping our Molly would be having a cria for 2022, but that wasn't the case. But Maggie's baby boy Latimer is doing great, and we are looking forward to having yarn from him this year. I should update "Our Alpaca's" pages, as now we only have the 2 girls Molly and Maggie, and the 4 boys Miguel, Morris, Desert Sun and Latimer. Six alpacas is about the right fit for our pastures. Last fall we reseeded the lower pasture, so now we will wait and see what this spring brings!

We are pleased to announce that our yarn is for sale at the Corner Station Deli and Co-op in Fairview Utah. This summer's shearing has now been made into yarn and our shelves have been restocked with the new sport weight 150 yard skeins of Molly, her son Miguel and daughter Maggie as well as Emily and her son James Deloy. The Deli has great sandwiches, salads, soups and drinks and the Co-op features unique toys, furniture, home décor and handicrafts. We are so happy to be a part of the Co-op! take a drive to Fairview in Sanpete county Utah, breathe the fresh air and check out the Corner Station Deli and Co-op - 111 south State Street -.

Spring City Heritage Days

5/25/2017

We will be participating in the Spring City Heritage Days! Today we took off work for the afternoon to go set up our little table at the crafter's boutique upstairs in The Old School. The Old School has been fully restored now, and it is breath taking! A lot of work has gone into restoring it, and one can not help but feel the love and appreciate the skillful hard work that went into this project! Some of the money raised at the boutique will go towards paying off the loan used in that undertaking. We will have our yarn for sale there. This is the first time we have displayed our yarn this way, and we will be happy to meet anyone who stops by our table! The boutique hours are Friday, May 26 - 5:00 to 8:00 and Saturday, May 27 from 9:00 to 3:00.
Saturday is the big day! There will be the Home Tours which is always so very VERY interesting. Spring City is one of only a few towns in the U.S.A. where the WHOLE town is listed in the historic registry! You will not be disappointed, a word of advice ...wear shoes that can be easily taken off, along with your best socks.

Feeling Relieved...

Freezing cold winter weather has arrived at our property so today we loaded up our alpacas and took them over to Todd Robinson's, who got us started in this alpaca life! Over there they have shelter from the cold winds and fresh unfrozen water.
Todd also did a pregtone test on Linen for us and....Yes! She is most probably pregnant, YAY!
We also got some home made honey made from the Robinson's honey bees, yum. Thanks Todd, you're the best.

We had an unexpected treat today at our place, just as we were arriving we were lucky to see some wild turkeys and they stayed long enough for me to take their picture. I also took pictures of our alpacas before we loaded them up into the trailer and after they were settled in at there winter home away from home.

To top it all off, we made it to Das Cafe in Spring City before they closed for the day. Schnitzel and carrot cake made our belly's very happy!
